With our constant focus on eliminating waste and improving efficiency, we are changing components of the ExamOne Field Kit used by paramedical examiners. Our new kit is easier to use, more eco-friendly and will help reduce our environmental waste.
By eliminating unnecessary materials we were able to save nearly 120 tons of waste per year…that is equivalent to 60 automobiles.
Changes to the Box
While the exterior size of the box has not changed, a modification has been made to the way the box opens. In the previous kit there was one small opening on the side. The contents had to be placed into that single opening before and after the exam. The new box opens like a pizza box. All of the contents are easily accessible, and the open box serves as a great area to place collected specimens. When finished, the specimens and paperwork fit easily into the box. The exterior appearance of the box has also been updated and a new confidentiality statement has been added to the front of the box.
Changes to the Inner Bag
Improvements have also been made to the specimen bag. The previous bag had a double-sided adhesive strip and sealing it required the phlebotomist to pull the plastic off the adhesive strips and press them together. Items could not be added or removed once the bag was sealed. With the new leak proof double zipper seal, it is now possible to reopen the specimen bag, thus enabling examiners to ensure all required items are included and positioned correctly without the need to open a new kit.
