Committed to client success: 2016 award winners

At ExamOne, we’re committed to being a premier service provider to life insurers while creating a positive experience for those taking the important step of protecting their families with life insurance. Each year, we recognize the hardworking employees who have been leaders in demonstrating this commitment.

Brian Barnes | 2016 Distribution Representative & IMO Representative of the Year awards

Brian began his career with Superior Mobile Medics, and joined the ExamOne team after the merger in 2015. In his role as a Strategic Account Executive, Brian serves several of ExamOne’s brokerage clients. He enjoys problem solving and applying our solutions to each client’s unique blend of workflows, technology and expectations.

“In the end, watching how our solutions and our people improve processes, and ultimately the overall client experience, is what is really rewarding,” said Brian.

“I have found the best way to show commitment to our clients is by seeking to understand them, their pain points, expectations and possible areas of improvement,” said Brian. He goes out of his way every day to make sure that a client or prospect feels they are genuinely understood. “Once they are understood, most of the time, they are open to suggestions and view me as a consultative resource instead of just a sales person,” said Brian.

Brian frames his day around one of his favorite quotes by Viktor E. Frankl: “Between the stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lie our growth and our freedom.”

Brian works hard to be successful in all he does. “Brian has a great balance between the client’s needs and the company’s strategies and objectives,” said Melanie Carter, Senior Vice President, Insurance Solutions Sales. “He works diligently to understand his clients and their business, and present proposals that enhance their business opportunities.”

In his free time, Brian enjoys exercising, playing tennis—even though he has a terrible serve—and reading articles about current events, space exploration, politics and self-improvement.

Meg Rose | 2016 Direct Markets Representative of the Year award

Meg has been in the life and health insurance industry for 20 years. She was previously with Superior Mobile Medics for five years before the acquisition in 2015. As a Strategic Account Executive, Meg works with people who truly care about what they do and want to build a relationship that allows her to create the best quality of products and services. “I love working with so many people that have really high standards as it challenges me to reach even higher with my own as well,” said Meg.  Many of those she has worked with in the industry have become her friends and she treats them as if they were family. “It is a special gift that my career has given me that I never would have predicted,” said Meg.

Meg takes pride in her work and always strives to see things from many different perspectives. “I wake up every day wanting to do the right thing and wanting to make someone else’s day better,” said Meg. She is a team player and is committed to delivering what the company has promised, all with a sense of humor.

“I am committed to having some good fun while we are working toward these goals. The importance of finding humor and humility continues to grow with me as the years pass,” said Meg.

“You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give.” These words from Eleanor Roosevelt are one of Meg’s favorite quotes and it shows in her dedication to her clients. “Meg’s tenure in the industry brings a great wealth of knowledge, passion, and great service for our clients,” said Melanie Carter, Senior Vice President, Insurance Solutions Sales.

In her free time, Meg is usually found outdoors enjoying the beach, wandering in a local botanical garden, or reading biographies. She also enjoys Pilates and spin classes, as well as light meditation. On the weekends, Meg enjoys traveling with her boyfriend.
