March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths? To raise awareness of this deadly disease, March has been declared Colorectal Cancer Awareness month. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be almost 133,000 new cases and 49,700 deaths from the disease in the United States this year. Colorectal cancer is often called a “silent killer” since many are symptom free and not diagnosed until late stages.

However, there is some positive news about colorectal cancer — it is largely curable if detected early. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 60 percent of colorectal cancer-related deaths could be avoided with early, regular screenings2.

Quest Diagnostics offers an effective screening test that is simple and easy. Studies show that InSure® FIT™ it is better at detecting stages I-III colorectal cancer compared to the traditional Hemocult stool test3.

Innovative companies, health plans and concerned individuals are taking action and participating in colorectal cancer screenings. If your company is interested in finding out how to help reduce healthcare costs and help save lives through early detection, please call Quest Diagnostics at 1-855-748-7846 or contact us online at BlueprintForWellness.com/employers/colorectalcancerscreening.
