A recipient of ExamOne’s Above and Beyond Award at ExamOne’s virtual convention, Lisa Preston, was recognized for her advocacy of our deaf employees. Lisa, Specimen Processing Supervisor, manages deaf employees and is bi-lingual in American Sign Language. She is regularly the resource for signing during training and meetings for our employees.
Last year Lisa volunteered with the Quest DiverseAbilities employee group to assist with disability inclusion training. She immediately knew of a project she could spearhead that would benefit deaf employees – closed captioning for employee training. It was a solution that had not been possible to implement across the company. Nevertheless, Lisa’s hard work and passion for inclusion resulted in a new plan for implementing more closed caption on Quest and ExamOne online training modules.
“We appreciate Lisa’s persistence and dedication in making sure all of our employees are treated equally. She saw an opportunity to improve a process and made it happen,” said Barb Nelson, Specimen Processing Manager.
